Scotland promises funding to lower the cost of offshore wind

Scotland has promised funding of 2.2m GBP to help lower the operating costs of offshore wind by 10% in the UK.

The Scottish Government will pay some £200k in this financial year with the balance coming in 2015-16. The cost reductions are due to be delivered in 2015 and this will benefit offshore wind developments in Scottish waters.

The investment from the Scottish Government will be used to encourage collaboration; share knowledge on construction, design and installation; and support the commercialisation of floating wind turbines in Scottish waters.
